Society Showcase on Tuesday, 12 May

Society Showcase
Tuesday, 12 May, 1:00 p.m.–5:00 pm

Stop by the Society Showcase when picking up your registration packet on Tuesday. This free event offers you the opportunity to leisurely browse the tables of archives, libraries, genealogical, and historical societies from Missouri and Illinois. You can ask questions, discuss their activities, and purchase their publications and memberships. Most of these participants will only be available at this special event. 

Showcase participants are:
  • Carondelet Historical Society
    Carondelet, an independent settlement, founded in 1767, Carondelet developed in parallel to St. Louis. The Society and its Bouchein Library is housed in Des Peres School, the first continuous public school kindergarten in the United States.
  • Daughters of the American Revolution (Missouri Chapters)
    Membership is available to any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
  • Four Rivers Genealogical Society, Franklin County, Missouri
    The Society is dedicated to promoting genealogical research, assisting members and others in researching and documenting their family histories.  It is also responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Ralph Gregory Library which is housed in the Washington Historical Society Museum.
  • Gasconade County [Missouri] Historical Society
    The Gasconade County Historical Society Archives & Records Center (ARC) is a one-stop facility for genealogical and general history research about Gasconade County. The Historical Society houses and provides easy access to the public records typically found in the county courthouse.
  • Genealogical Society of Boone County and Central Missouri (CSCM)
    GSCM is an educational Society devoted to furthering genealogical research and promoting interest in family history in the central Missouri area.
  • Holocaust Museum and Learning Center
    Housing an exhibition providing a chronological history of the Holocaust with personal accounts of Holocaust survivors who emigrated to St. Louis, the museum features photographs, artifacts, text panels, and audio-visual displays to guide visitors through pre-war Jewish life in Europe, the rise of Nazism and events during the Holocaust between 1933–1945, and post-war events including the Nuremberg Trials and Jewish life after the Holocaust.
  • Illinois State Archives
    The State Archives serves as the depository of public records of Illinois state and local governmental agencies which possess permanent administrative, legal, or historical research values.
  • Jefferson County (Missouri) Genealogical Society
    The Society mission is to gather and preserve bible records, diaries and manuscripts; church and cemetery records; land records and testamentary documents; and other materials of genealogical and historical importance; and to copy, index, and publish records to preserve the history of Jefferson County. All records are housed at the Jefferson County Library, Northwest Branch.
  • Kirkwood [Missouri] Historical Society
    The Society seeks to discover, collect and preserve the history of Kirkwood and surrounding areas. The Society promotes educational programs, exhibits and special events.
  • Lincoln County (Missouri) Genealogical Society
    Comprised of volunteers dedicated to the acquisition and preservation of Lincoln County records useful in genealogical and historical research.
  • Madison County (Illinois) Historical Museum & Archival Library|
    Madison County Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the history of Madison County by preserving the collection of books, papers, maps, and photographs.
  • Missouri German Consortium
    Devoted to preserving the German heritage, culture and history of German Americans in Missouri, the Consortium seeks to enjoy German customs, and language with education and research to preserve German American heritage, ancestry, and traditions.
  • Missouri State Archives
    Missouri State Archives is the official repository for state records of permanent and historical value. Its mission is to foster an appreciation of Missouri history and illuminate contemporary public issues by preserving and making available the state's permanent records to its citizens and their government.
  • Missouri State Genealogical Association (MOSGA)
    MOSGA provides resources, education, and published materials for Missouri research through an annual conference and Journal, the quarterly publication.
  • Monroe County (Illinois) Genealogical Society
    The organization strives to preserve the history and genealogy of Monroe County, Illinois with educational meetings and publishing records. All genealogical materials are housed at the Morrison-Talbott Library in Waterloo, Illinois.
  • Pike County (Missouri) Genealogical Society
    The Society's purpose is to preserve the history of the people of Pike County, to aid researchers in their quest for information on their ancestors in Pike County, and to teach and encourage new researchers.
  • Sappington-Concord [Missouri] Historical Society
    The primary goal of Sappington–Concord Historical Society is education, research, collection, and preservation of historical records and artifacts with an emphasis on the Sappington-Concord area of South St. Louis County.
  • Saul Brodsky Jewish Community Library
    The St. Louis community's central and comprehensive source for Judaica with more than 22,000 volumes in the collection, the Brodsky Library also houses the St. Louis Jewish Community Archives.
  • Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Missouri
    A lineage organization for any person with direct descent from a Mayflower passenger. The Society aids in the preservation of United States civil and historic sites, fosters interest in research and study of the Pilgrims and the colonial period, and supports the maintenance of public libraries of genealogical research and educational material relating to the Pilgrims and the colonial period.
  • St. Louis African American History & Genealogy Society (STL-AAHGS)
    Dedicated to preserving African-ancestral family history, genealogy, and cultural diversity with educational and research opportunities. STL-AAHGS sponsors an annual Institute.
  • St. Louis Mercantile Library
    The oldest library west of the Mississippi River, the Mercantile Library collections concentrate on Western Expansion and the history, development, and growth of the St. Louis region and of the American rail and river transportation experiences.
  • St. Louis Public Library
    The oldest public library in St. Louis, the St. Louis Public Library Genealogy Room’s collection consists of books, periodicals, city directories and telephone books, microfilm, maps, and vertical file materials, concentrating on Missouri and on states that furnished large numbers of emigrants to Missouri. The library also has extensive map and heraldry collections.
  • Warren County (Missouri) Historical Society
    Located in the heart of Daniel Boone country, the focus of the collection in the research library includes community histories, church records, family histories and surname files, marriage transcripts, microfilm of county records and newspapers, obituary files, probate index, tombstone inscription files, and college and high school yearbooks.
  • Washington Historical Society
    The Washington Historical Society, Inc. was organized in 1959 with the idea of preserving and sharing the unique and diverse history of Washington, Franklin County, Missouri, with the public. Members have transcribed several nineteenth and twentieth century writings into published books.
