Fold3 provides convenient access to historical military records, with over 400 million records currently on our site. Our records cover every major conflict from the Revolutionary War to the recent wars in the Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Original records at Fold3 help you discover and share stories about these everyday heroes, forgotten soldiers, and the families that supported them.
Many of our documents help you find out about specific soldiers. These include pension applications, Compiled Military Service Records (CMSRs), final payment vouchers, casualty reports, war rolls, registers of enlistments, service rosters, enlistment records, personal histories and experience reports, and many more.
Others of our documents provide historical context for the experiences of veterans. These include resources like the papers of the Continental Congress, Civil War maps, letters received by the adjutant general, regimental records, Navy cruise books, records of the WWI US Expeditionary Force in Russia, and WWII naval press clippings—just to name a few. We also have an extensive photograph collection, with images from conflicts such as the Civil War, World War II, Vietnam, and others.
On Fold3, you can also combine records found on the site with what you have in your own albums and shoe boxes to create an online memorial for someone who served.
